How to Play Dragon Tiger Online to Win Real Money

The Basics
Dragon Tiger is a two-position card game dealt from a shoe. The dealer places one card face up on the spot marked Dragon and one on the spot marked Tiger. Whichever card ranks higher wins. That is the entire game: no drawing rules, no hand totals, no decisions after the bet. Rounds at Evolution's standard table run about 25 seconds, which is roughly twice the pace of a baccarat table, and its Super Speed version is faster still.
The game is dealt from eight standard 52-card decks, with no jokers, at every studio that publishes a deck count (Pragmatic Play, SA Gaming, On Air Entertainment, Evolution's Lightning version). Pragmatic Play and SA Gaming burn the first card of each shoe. Deltin's Goa casinos quote six to eight decks.
Where it sits in the casino
Evolution announced Dragon Tiger in its 2017 year-end report as a new variant in its baccarat portfolio, and every operator we list files it under baccarat in the lobby. Think of it as Casino War's mechanic laid out on a baccarat table with a baccarat-style Tie bet.
Card Ranking
Online, the order is the same everywhere: Ace is the lowest card, King the highest. From low to high: A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K. Evolution's Lightning rules, Lucky Ruby Border Casino's published rules and Deltin's all spell this out. Suits are irrelevant to the main bets; they matter only for the Suited Tie and the suit-based side bets.
The land-based exception
Ha Tien Vegas, a casino on Cambodia's border with Vietnam, publishes rules that rank the Ace as the highest card, with King second. Two hundred kilometers along the same border, Lucky Ruby ranks Ace low like the online studios. The rank order does not change any probability, since a tie is a tie whichever card is on top, but it changes which card you are hoping to see. If you play in a land-based room, read the table placard first.

Every one of these payouts is short of fair, and by very different amounts. The Dragon and Tiger bets give the house 3.73% on a half-back table; the Tie at 11:1 gives it 10.36%, at 8:1 32.77%; the one-card side bets 7.69%. The full derivation of each figure is on the Odds & Payouts page.
The Tie Rule: The One Thing to Check
Dragon and Tiger are perfectly symmetric bets, so the casino's entire margin on them comes from the 7.47% of rounds that tie. Two rules exist:
Half back
On a tie, Dragon and Tiger bets lose half their stake and the other half is returned. House edge 3.73%.

All lost
On a tie, Dragon and Tiger bets lose in full. House edge 7.47%, twice the half-back figure.
Evolution, Ezugi and OneTouch do not state their tie rule on the product pages we read. Open the in-game help before your first bet.
The difference is the largest single factor in what the game costs you. A player betting $10 a round for 10,000 rounds expects to lose about $3,735 on a half-back table and about $7,470 where ties lose everything.
A Round, Step by Step
- Betting opens. Place chips on Dragon, Tiger, Tie or any side bets. At Evolution's standard table the window is about 15 seconds of a 25-second round. Pragmatic Play's game help notes that betting both Dragon and Tiger in the same round may be blocked.
- Betting closes. On Lightning Dragon Tiger, this is when one suit is randomly assigned a 2x to 8x multiplier; you have already paid a 20% fee on top of your bet for the chance.
- The deal. One card face up to Dragon, then one to Tiger (the order Deltin's rules describe; it makes no difference to the odds).
- Resolution. Higher card wins at 1:1. Equal ranks: Tie pays, Suited Tie pays if the suits also match, and the main bets are settled by the table's tie rule. One-card side bets settle on their own side's card, with a 7 losing on most tables.
- Roads update. Evolution, Pragmatic Play and Ezugi all display bead roads and statistics of past results. They are a record, not a forecast: every card is drawn without knowledge of the last one. See Winning Strategies for what the math says about following them.
- Shoe change. Eight-deck shoes are replaced late in the shoe; Pragmatic Play switches off side bets after 50 rounds of a shoe.

Before You Bet: A Checklist
- Tie rule. Half back or all lost? It is the difference between 3.73% and 7.47%.
- Tie payout. 11:1 is the best on offer; 8:1 gives the house nearly a third of every Tie bet.
- Card ranking. Ace low online; check the placard in a land-based room.
- Fees. Lightning tables charge 20% on every bet before any multiplier is drawn.
- Pace. At 140 rounds an hour, a $10 flat bet is $1,400 an hour through the table. Set a loss limit in dollars, not rounds.
